Man, I've gotten it twice and I am hooked. The second time I had about 16 rolls :headroll::drool::drool:

Yeah, I"m in a similiar boat.

The first time I had it it was entirely too much fish. Imagine if someone supersized the filling in a Sushi Roll. Yuk. Just no harmony of flavor. Only the seafood stuck out.
The few times after that I've had it and completely enjoyed the experience. Just be careful. If you do 16+ pieces at a sitting & eat Sushi for more than 1 meal during the day, you pay the price later! That sticky rice really sticks to your insides!!

Sushi is a way of life here in California. Graduate from rolls to sushi to sashimi and skip the rice. Don't know about getting in in Texas though (no offense).

Welcome to yet another expensive, but oh-so-satisfying persuit.

Fortunately for me, Tampa has two all you can eat sushi places that are worthwhile (one okay, and the other amazing).

I love sushi and can easily put down 16 rolls + 2 of each of tuna/shrimp/salmon (fish on top with rice on bottom).

Same as Todd, Cali rolls are yummy and cheap. Love shrimp tempora rolls too. If I wanted just the sushi w/o rice, I just eat fish or shrimp from the grocery store and get the wife to cook it up.

I have a friend that got me hooked on Sushi. I'm on a first name basis with all the employees at the local sushi restaurants now. It can get a bit expensive tho.

Love sushi and sashimi. I don't do that many rolls when I go to the local, but I love the hand rolls that they make especially the spicy tuna or yellowtail and scallions. When you find a place that has quality fish and sushi chefs, it's like finding a pot of gold.

There is a place by work that has great sushi and very good lunch specials. The 16 rolls were about 12.50. Spicy tuna, salmon, and crab I think.

It'll take some time to work up to sushi then sashimi though...

Hmm I've yet to try it... something about raw fish just didn't sound appetizing. Someone at work keeps trying to convince me to try it so I might take the plunge...

To me, the fish isn't really that fishy, so to speak.

If your sushi tastes fishy, or even worse, smells fishy, run don't walk. This is typical of fish past its prime. It may be okay for a fish fry or cooked fish, but not acceptable for sushi or sashimi. Any respectable place will not serve suspect fish. You want to make sure that the place you frequent has the freshest fish. I cannot stress this enough.
