I can't run a cleaner through after smoking though because there is a filter in there. I've read I'm not supposed to pull the stem when it's hot?

Do you guys mostly go filterless?

Yeah, I don't the filters at all. But, yes, don't pull the stem out while it's hot. You definitely want to let it rest.

I have both. And keep the filters in for now on the ones that came with them as I notice their cleaner smoking and the filter traps all the moisture.

And yes, don't do it when it's hot. I let mine cool a little while, as in a few hours before cleaning them out. I'd probably forget to clean them if I left them for the 24 hour rest period.

I have two ash trays on the table in the garage. All the clean pipes go in one. Once I use a pipe, it goes in the other.

That way, I never grab a dirty pipe, and since I'm sitting there smoking anyway, I usually just clean out the dirty one(s) while I'm having my smoke and coffee in there morning and they've rested overnight.
