I started playing almost two years ago and you'd think by now I would have learned some kind of strategy but it's hard to do that when you mostly play alone. Slowly picking up how to play the game and not try to hit the ball.

I realized last week that my pace of play impacts me greatly. If I'm by myself, I can easily do a round in 2 hours. I don't wait for anyone, and I just go to my ball and putt.
It's completely different and much much slower playing with others and I have yet to adjust for that.
Slow play is the bane of all golfers. There is no reason why a foursome can't get around the course in 3 and 1/2 hrs.

See I don't enjoy rushing. I like to just take my time and enjoy the game with the people I'm playing with. Alone it's much quicker but not as much enjoyment

So with this league, I realized after 3 weeks in the best way around is course management. The landing areas will feed towards laterals due to the slopes of the fairways and also the fact that we haven't had much rain and everything is rolling out. Going forward it'll be target golf to 150yd marker all day.

Week 1 48 (loss)
Week 2 50 (loss)
Week 3 44 (win)

Tied for 5th (net) in men's league this week, $24 clubhouse credit is better than a kick in the shorts.

Played 9 yesterday with a couple buddies. I am by no means a good golfer. I had been quicksanding pretty good. Then I refused to tee off on 9 til the green was cleared just in case. 250yd par 4. My buddies gave me shit after the round I just had so I drove the green and birdied for the first time in my life. Could not believe it.
Best part was they were so thrown off by my drive that they double boggied. Lol

Currently in 6th place but I think they scored us wrong in points earned for Week 5. Should have moved up a few spots.

3 friends and I defended our University of Utah Hockey Golf Tournament Championship. Good times, but our post championship celebration has left me a little wounded today.

I need to get back out on the course. Put in about 20 rounds this yr but none in the last 2.5 weeks.

So after thinking I was pushing everything right today it was pointed out that I was aiming right today evidenced by my feet mark after a four iron shot I hit clean went right by thirty yards. The little things...

What's going on is I've lost it.... No idea what's going on. I never had it(16), but I'm mid 50s last 2 half rounds. It's not even one thing, just spraying, left, right, long short....? Only a couple 1/2 rounds, but I'm WTF? Blow ups have never been my thing....maybe a hole, everyone does it, but I finished a 1/2 round with (1) bogie...ONE....I EXPECT 9.

Usually I'm going to double a few, par a few, probably birdie one and trip one and roll in.... But I bogied one and that was my best hole!?!?!?!! STRUGGLING....

Finished bogie, double and still scored a 41... Though not happy about the finish, 3 putt on 9 from 20' and was 10' off green on 8 and banged it over green by 5', on and two putt. Long story short, solid half round and back at it.

Was sooooo wanting 39....

Won my first round club championship match, played well and probably would have shot 76-77.
The next round I'm up against a real bomber so time to make lots of pars and let him make his mistakes.

Re-developed the slice off the tee I had when I first started playing. I was hitting irons lights out. Then I went to fixing my slice, over corrected a bit and an now fighting the occasional snap hook off the tee. Since changing my driving swing I have completely screwed up what I had working with my irons. Headed back to the range to find some consistency.

But I'm happy just to be out there playing again. Hadn't played much in 5 years because of the young kids and tight funds. Kids now becoming school age and the wife and I have new jobs. A little more expendable income for the course.
