Honorable Mentions - any of these could easily jump into the top 5 at any given moment

The Who - Tommy, Who's Next
Led Zeppelin - I, II, III, IV (Zoso)
Guns N Roses - Appetite for Destruction

Queen - A night at the Opera, Queen II
Supertramp - Crime of The Century, Breakfast In America

Sorry...I guess that makes it a top 25

Heard them for first time last night on Slacker. Wife and I both looked at each other and both nodded and smiled.....we'll be checking out more of their stuff

Joy of the duo is actually a good friend of mine and my wife sang backup for her before she was the cival wars. Love the music and love seeing a dear friend succeed at what she loves.

In no particular order:
Stone Temple Pilots - Core
Sound Garden - Superunknown
2 Pac - All Eyez on Me
Outkast - Stankonia
The Crystal Method - Vegas

Compilation album - Bob Marley - Legend

As a side note - not a single vote for Thriller? It's like the top selling album of all time and nobody likes it? I'm calling BS. Also, there has to be a vote for Purple Rain that's missing too. I'm just playing the odds here.

This has been a great discussion with a ton of awesome (and a few not so awesome) albums on the list. I have been a DJ for 12 years, and High Fidelity is one of my favorite movies. I do not have a top 5 list atm, because it is just too hard, but I am surprised no one has mentioned Neil Young -Harvest. Not a bad song on the album, and a few that are epic. Also really liked the Civil Wars, very cool band. Another cool band I always try to turn people on to with a similar style is here . They are amazing, and PLEASE keep the music threads coming! I can recommend about 30 more songs honeyhoney as well. What the hell, here is another one of my favorites by them http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9O3_IZ3EDc .

So I gave this some thought. I have alway been a music junkie, but a "best album" to me is one I can listen to from start to finish and not want to skip tracks. There are some great albums out there with 5-6 goods songs that may be better than my list, but here are 5 I can listen to any time from start to finish.

Pink Floyd - Dark Side Of The Moon
Foo Fighters - Foo Fighters
Beastie Boys - Check Your Head
311 - Music
Pearl Jam - Ten
