I've got the LTE first album. I have to admit it's not my favorite. For the DT spinoff stuff, I actually prefer LaBrie's solo work oddly enough.
In terms of Progressive Metal, one I'm really digging right now is an Australian band called Caligula's Horse. If you've not heard it, check out their track "Vanishing Rites" on youtube.
Instant props for listing Philip Glass.rules - let's make it little more difficult - limit it to your top 5 of any genre (see the movie "High Fidelity" if you need the reason). No greatest hits or compilation albums - must be original material. If you want to also include one greatest hits/live/compilation album go for it.
Here's mine - no order:
"Wish You Were Here" - Pink Floyd
"Blue Train" - John Coltrane
"Glassworks" - Philip Glass
"Buckingham Nicks" - Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks
"What's Going on?" - Marvin Gaye
greatest hits/live/compilation album: "Dream Sequence" - Tangerine Dream.

Don't forget Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp and Polyfuze Method.Does Kid Rock's debut album "grits sandwiches for breakfast" qualify? Nobody ever acts like he was a corny rapper with a twelve inch flat top hairstyle but us locals know the roots![]()
