• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I'm willing to bet that both of the above ideas play into it. That being said, you can see in the recent history that Cuba has been moving towards the larger ring gauges because that is what has been in vogue (in the states, *cough, cough*). It's something to keep an eye on, IMHO. While I...

Does the ash tell a story?

In short, yes. :) Now I'll sit back with you and listen to those that actually know the rest of the answer.

    Well? Who got 'em?

    CC, NC, or both?

Aaron, and perhaps this would make a better thread on its own, but do you not think that the fact that NC's tend to be aged both as leaf and as rolled cigars prior to shipping affects HOW they age, if not their suitability for aging?

This is what cigar smoking can lead to

Wow, that's awesome. Now I must permanently put this thread on ignore so I don't get any ideas, lol.

    Wifi hygrometer build

Looks great, but very pricey. Looks like somewhere in the $400 range just to get started with a single sensor. It does talk about calibration, but I'm not sure about the details as the link doesn't work. Still, way out of the price range I would consider feasible.

The one from Cellar Tracker definitely looks like it's gonna cost you an arm and a leg. No prices posted and they want you to call or email so their sales team can contact you. Cool looking stuff though. The La Crosse stuff looks like it has potential though. Here's the Amazon.com: La Crosse...

Flavor profiles more distinct in CCs?

I have a few thoughts running through my head on this topic, and I'll start with this one. To me, the flavor profiles of Cubans are very distinct between brands, but less so between individual cigars within the brands. I didn't find this to be the case when I was smoking NC's as much, but I...

Chances are I won't be able to be on at that time. I'm teaching or in classes (dog training) until 9:30 EST tonight unless I can skip out early, and even then I probably won't make it home by 9.

 Give it some time to settle and things should even out some more. The ETC may or may not be necessary. It will, if you use it, allow for things to stabilize even further as it will keep the system from running so much. You might want to consider holding on to it through the summer...

The Cigar Oasis is great for those that regularly need to add humidity to the environment. I would say they are more useful in the northern climates where the air is much drier most of the year and moisture is lost at a considerable rate when repeatedly getting into the humidor. The thing to...

HAHAHA! Love it. Great interview. Welcome! I hope we leave an overall better impression than some of those "other places" you mentioned.

    rockets or real

This was awesome, really enjoyed it. Sorry to hear the JL #1 was so hit or miss, but it is a 2010 cigar, so I guess I'll chalk it up to that. They are typically a wonderful cigar.

Lee, did you order the pre-wired one I hope? That would have been the one linked to in the thread I mentioned. That's the one you want, easiest to deal with, just plug and play.

Do you smoke infused or flavored cigars?

Never had one. I've always gotten enough flavor (that I enjoyed) from standard smokes that I've never had an interest in one that's flavored. Kind of how my wife feels about flavored teas I guess.

Definitely check out the Wineador 101 thread...whatever it's called, it's stickied on the top of this sub-forum. If by "internal fan" you mean the one that is part of the cooler, definitely do not do that. That has been brought up numerous times and every response I've seen says you'll mess up...
