• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

 I did order some Rene seco so not everything will be all ligero... It was a smooth smoke. Used the last of my mata fina filler though so maybe next time I'll sub in T-13 and see what happens. :cigar:

The first two were huge. I cut down to 1/4 leaf each ligero, 1/2 Mata fina, and a piece of CTBL about the same as one of the ligero. About fire up the trial stick now that its aged almost 4 hours! Ps, that's a 48rg mold they are sitting in for comparison

Tonight's blending exercise is one of exploration... I'm going overboard on ligero to see what happens. Equal (sort of equal anyway) parts Piloto cubano ligero, Nicaraguan Condega ligero, Dominican ligero, 1 Brazilian Mata Fina, some CT broadleaf filler, bound in Brazilian Mata Fina binder...

Guess I'm just lucky being in NC I'm out of T-13 and need more, and the Rene Seco I'm trying based on the raves here. Of course the traditional Corojo viso is a staple for me and I'm out of that too.

LO Ecuador Seco wrappers are my choice for smooth over spicy.

    A Noob’s Venture into Firearms

@bwhite220 didn't happen if there aren't any pics! I'm glad there is another trained and armed person out there. The best way to stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun. Thanks for taking on the responsibility.

All that in a 46 ring gauge, I must be lazy. 2 ligeros, a viso, a seco, 2 binders, and a wrapper. 7 different leaves. I still need to step up my game...

That binder is a piloto cubano leaf according to LO, which goes well with many other fillers. As long as it burns for you, go ahead and use it as filler if you want.

I used a saw blade. Its thicker than the sheets of stainless I had available at Lowes, which I think makes it more comfortable to work with.

About to head out to the shop. Rolled up this blend real quick for a trial run. Nic Condega ligero, Piloto Cubano ligero, Brazilian habano viso, Nic habano seco and Corojo seco. Bound with Dominican binder and wrapped in Nic rosado wrapper. Looking forward to this one! Edit: The Brazilian viso...

    Any Other Woodworkers on BOTL?

It's a Dewalt, DW618. 2.25 hp, has a plunging base too. Now it's time to start searching for tables that fit. Think I'll start by looking at the kreg table you mentioned.
