• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

I could use some parenting advice

I'd go with B. Kindergarten today is not what kindergarten was when I went. The kids will be learning academics and sitting a lot rather than learning to get along and having nap time. They definitely feel the stress the teachers feel with tests and grades and percentiles at a young age...

Put together some t13, CV habano seco, condega ligero wrapped in a piece of leftover Ec shade seco... No mold, no paper strip, just bunched, bound, wrapped and cut the head off. Taking it out to burn 5 minutes after it was put together.

A little more progress on the router table today. Cemented 4 layers of hardboard and a 3/4 inch plywood together, framed in oak and a layer of Formica on top.

To de-vein or to keep the viens, how much is ok?

I pull most of the center rib out but leave the rest. The only exceptions being if they wind up on the edge of the bunch and would tear the binder/wrapper, they get pulled out too.

    Need a new dishwasher

I was thinking for fun, you'd get a mid 20s redhead but for reliability maybe mid 30s brunette... We have a Bosch and its treated us well so far (6 months in the new place now). I'll look at the model and add that info shortly...

    Any Other Woodworkers on BOTL?

Today was the day to put an edge on my trim pieces. Got everything clamped down, swapped the bit on my router to my fancy round over, plugged it in and hit the ON/OFF switch and..........nothing. No thousands of RPM making sawdust, no motor noise, nada. The chord has 122VAC per my meter. It...

Every once in a while, you'll find a binder or filler leaf that is nice enough to use as a wrapper. Your staple wrapper leaf will help your consistency while getting the hang of it and the different nice leaf you occasionally find will give some variation, for science...

This was a quick roll this afternoon to be smoked on the porch with the family. Timing didn't pan out but it's still a good smoke. Some rene seco, T13 viso and a split of nic hab ligero and Condega ligero. The BMF binder was falling apart so I put Dominican binder over it as a wrapper...Voila...

I'll have to make a Rene seco cheroot to see what it brings alone... Edit: Alright, I've got 2 Rene seco leaves shaped into a small cheroot, wrapped in a newspaper strip. I'll smoke that on the way to work later today. (Minus the paper!) I also have one t13 and one Rene seco in a baggie with a...

Here it is, 2 T13, 1 Rene Seco. BMF binder and Ecuadorian seco wrapped. Ready to go to work This was a rush job....probably shouldn't post a pic of the non-parallel sides but it didn't get more than 10 minutes in a paper strip mold....

I cannot compare to the more expensive selection but agree with everything @Hopduro said. It does smell wonderful and feels velvety smooth, it just cannot be rushed like other leaf allows us to. I've not tried the more expensive CT shade.
