• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

Lol! The common-sense approach would've been to simply exempt 'Premium Cigars' and fucking regulate everything else. But why the FDA went after all 'Premium Cigars' produced post February 15, 2007 makes absolutely no fucking sense to me. My only explanation is that STG (General Cigar) and...

Stogie Guys explain it pretty well here: http://www.stogieguys.com/2016/05/05052016-breaking-news-the-fda-just-issued-its-final-rule-regulating-handmade-cigars-and-its-as-bad-as-we-feared.html So essentially, after August 8, 2016 no more new brands/blends without FDA approval. Non-grandfathered...

Not that I place a ton of credit in Brian Glynn, he does certainly seem shaken up here: But I wholeheartedly agree with @Senor Perfecto. There is still time to reverse this thing. A good start would be to write your local Congressional representative because the House can amend these...

I was just reading an article about the craft beer industry. The big corporate producers tried to use their political power to enforce tough regulations on small brewers. But the craft industry adjusted and is now thriving. I hope the same is the case here.

I was just thinking the same thing. What if smaller manufacturers just moved to online retail in Nicaragua and Dominican Republic. Customs would be the only barrier. And some of us know how well customs prevents cigars from getting into the country! ;) It all makes sense now. Drew Estates sells...

Here's the CA article, http://www.cigaraficionado.com/webfeatures/show/id/fda-ruling-threatens-cigar-industry-18788. It discusses that very point. There was lobbying to get 2016 as the date, but FDA shot it down. I'll tell ya, man, we have the greediest government in the history of the world...

    NJ tax audit for cigars?

I really appreciate the information you've provided. I never took to the time to look into it. Cigars are really the only thing I purchase out-of-state. And I never declare cigars on my taxes. I didn't think for a second that there could be interstate audits between tax bureaus and retailers...

    NJ tax audit for cigars?

California residents, here is the interstate statute per State Board of Equalization: If consumers purchase cigarettes or tobacco products for their own use from outside the state without paying California excise tax, they are required to report and pay the tax directly to the BOE. This...

    NJ tax audit for cigars?

Holy shitballs, Batman! I had no idea. I guess I should've asked retailer. So essentially all my past interstate transactions with out-of-state vendors over the last three years (California statute time) are still outstanding with the California tax bureau? And they could collect unpaid sales...

    NJ tax audit for cigars?

Holy sweet Jesus, if those clowns in Sactown do the same thing for Ariz. and Fla., I'll owe thousands of dollars in back taxes. Is there some kind of statute of limitations on purchase date, or do you think it remains outstanding until collected? For example, the interstate commerce office in...
