• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

A kinder, gentler FDA thread -- now with facts! (TL/DR, the sky is not falling)

How about ten thousand cigar smokers on the steps of the Capitol herfing!!! That would be badass!!!

Exactly. Signing a petition to the President, or contacting your Senator will definitely fall on deaf ears. But Trump has put the fear of God in these House Reps. They're on pins and needles and not looking for any more angry constituents. They still possess the power of funding these absurd...

A kinder, gentler FDA thread -- now with facts! (TL/DR, the sky is not falling)

Skip Martin posted this on Facebook. Again, I hate to sound like a preacher, but finding your representative in your district and writing a 'rational' letter of concern may help win the vote for that exemption on premium cigars. FDA will most likely require a ton of funding to create an approval...

Thanks for the informative thread. This definitely alleviates a lot of concerns I've had over the last week. I also like the idea of manufacturers being able to apply for an exemption from 'Substantial Equivalent' regulation. That may ultimately prove to be a decisive loophole. Congress can...

    Show/List your latest NC Purchase

After +250 cuts, it starts to shred the cap and blades become dull with resin. But you can unscrew the bottom plate, take it all apart, wipe the surgical blades thoroughly with a soft sponge doused in rubbing alcohol, and spray springs and axle with WD-40. And then it works like new, if not better!

He's a level 9 roller from Cuba: "I worked at Briones Montoto, the old Romeo y Julieta factory, and most recently a cigar store called Partagas La Casa Del Habanos where I was selling cigars and meeting new clients. I eventually was sent by Habanos, SA, the government owned Cuban cigar...

UPDATES- FDA Regulation Thread - Petitions, Links, Action Items

Here's a comprehensive 5-page summary of the new deeming regulations, released by the Vapor industry trade association. I don't know if it's a silver-lining, but cigar manufacturers will be able to apply for an exemption from 'Substantial Equivalent' approval. That's really the crux of these new...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

So I made my way through the first 50 pages of FDA guidelines. This is not about tobacco as much as it's about nicotine and 'devices' which deliver nicotine to the human body. Apparently, the FDA believes the old-fashioned, machine-rolled cigarette is a more effective method than the...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

I agree. But the House of Representatives dictates what the FDA can and cannot do. I'll state the obvious by saying all of us live in one congressional district or another with a representative who possesses a vote. Unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi is my representative, and I know my appeals to her...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

I couldn't agree more. This not a conspiracy, it's just legislative overreaching. Someone on the Hill hasn't done their homework.

    Not Good...FDA ruling

That's exactly what this is, but they overreached by including 'premium cigars'! Option II would've left 'Premiums' out of this, but the idiots on the Hill went with Option I. The big question is why! It just makes no sense. Americans consume 325 million premiums a year! That's a ton of tax...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

You know, Jim, I've been scouring the internet trying to wrap my brain around this. Ultimately, I think it comes down to money. The fees for the approval process will cost cigar makers $250,000-$300,000 per blend/vitola!!! That is an immense amount of revenue the government feels it deserves...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

But he can sue the FDA, and I'm sure the two Senators in Tennessee, the House Representatives, and others do not wish to say goodbye to Mr. Huber's sizable contribution to state tax coffers. Lol. The FDA has lost it's last 5 lawsuits recently. 0-5! In fact, the whole industry will sue the FDA...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

It means that all blends/brands before 5/10/16 would be exempt from new regulations, and all blends/brands after 5/10/16 would be subject to guidelines and approval process. Yes, Jim, it would be a huge victory/concession for our side. It still amazes me how dumb these idiots on the Hill are...

    Not Good...FDA ruling

So there is a silver lining to this thing, according to Two Guys of Cigar Authority. "The question that remains can the August 8, 2016 date change and the answer is yes as it is expected that the cigar industry will file lawsuits to delay the new ruling, and hopefully change the ruling while...
