• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

15% total Crystal/carapils seems a bit high unless you want the sweetness. I'd also consider a bit more rice hulls just in case. All in all it looks good though.

    BOTL Weight Loss Thread

More than welcome! Don't be afraid to tweak the carbs and fats in the split a little if you think you need it. From the sounds of it though it seems like it's working out for you. Just want to say props to all of you guys. Cutting over the summer is damn tough and your killing it. Keep up the...

    BOTL Weight Loss Thread

Be aware that if you have a heavier than usual carb day you might jump a couple pounds on the scale. It's just water weight though and it sheds right back off in a couple days. Used to freak me out after refeeds lol.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Berliner Weisse don't really have a lot of yeast character though more traditional versions have a little. Especially ones with Brett. American versions tend to be cleaner and more sour. In either case the clean lactic character is the hallmark of the style. If you can dedicate a fermenter and...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

This is what I used to teach myself the basics.....http://www.homebrewtalk.com/showthread.php?t=579458 I also have the process listed in easy steps. Now I normally do all grain but if I'm testing a new fruit or something I'll use this recipe to potentially save grain/time should it not work out...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

They're all really damn good except the stout which I'm on the fence about. I normally use EKG or magnum but decided to try some super galena I was given. Never again. I used under an oz and it's way too assertive IMO. I'm hoping the chocolate and oak smooth it over but it'll be a game time...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Kegged up a batch of watermelon berliner yesterday and an IPA today to finish prep for an upcoming Brewfest. It's an event I always look forward to and try to bring some of my best stuff. It also gives me a chance to brew fun stuff we usually don't have on tap. The set line up is oaked chocolate...

    Cigar & Protein Shake Pairings

Dunno how I messed this thread. I do this all the time lol. Though I usually chug my shake before I head out for my cigar. ON Whey Mocha Cappuccino is a wonderful prelude to a broadleaf wrapped cigar!

I love the fermenter. Pretty sure I store my base malt in the same thing lol.

Keep in mind you might not get much ester production pitching on a cake. If you want a good ester presence under pitching a little does a good job.

Gotta agree. Allow yourself to work into it though. If you go too hard too soon your asking for trouble.

Walking doesn't burn nearly as many calories compared to running but its easier to only burn carbs/fat and not have muscle breakdown. Another positive I noticed was I could walk more consistently throughout the week and keep my weekly totals higher(distance). If I run that often my legs don't...

Depending how bad it is I would say walking or maybe swimming. Walking isn't going to put any lean mass on you but it will definitely help you slim down. Swimming will also trim you down but you have better chances of adding a little lean mass in the process.

If you haven't tried one of these do yourself a favor and smoke one. Great leather notes.

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

As close as its going to get for me! I added the starter in the kettle and put the lid on so much better than before. I have to thank all the people with their oxidation paranoia right now lol. They've come up with some real practical process adjustments for knocking down cold side oxidation...

    Homebrewers - Whats Fermenting?

Crazy busy beer morning. I've got my pipeline maxed out which has been a juggling act to coordinate. I tried a new method of souring a Berliner in a sanitizer/co2 purged corny which worked excellent. I got that racked to pasteurize in the kettle, cleaned out the keg and kegged up an Amber. Then...

At the beginning of summer I was dialing back my carbs a bit but now I'm slowly bringing them back up. I shoot for ~2200 cal each day and a 40p/35f/25c macro split. It can be a little off but it should be in the ball park. Obviously I don't eat this way daily but it's an idea of being flexible...
