• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

How to sharpen a V cutter blade?

Lots of times, the blades aren't really dull, they are just gunked up. You should periodically clean the cutting edges with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol. Even a cheapo cutter, if it is decent to start with, can last for years, if it is cleaned regularly.

    'Must try' cigars?

Fuentes. Try the various sizes of the Château Series in Maduro, as well as a maduro 8–5–8. Also try a Rocky Patel Edge Sumatra.

Just in case you haven't gotten the message yet, spring for a Palio. You won't regret it.

    58$ Dupont!

I sprang for the shnoop deal. This is my second X-tend (my first one is the full size version). They are definitely worth the money IMO (to answer Aloha Style) and are the only lighters I have ever had that always light on the first click. As to the color, it's a matter of taste, and I happen...

    Home defense weapon

Shotguns have one feature that hasn't been mentioned: the distinctive sound of the pump action being racked. That, by itself, might help deter all but the most determined BG. :gangfire:

    Storing cigars in the caribbean

You might try the beads from Heartfelt Industries and watch their color. They turn from white to clear when they are saturated. When that happens, take them out and dry them as described by Skitalets. However, use a very low speed on the hair dryer and keep it at a distance, unless your beads...

    The New Ronson Jetlite

Shnoop promptly changed its billing procedures in response to that situation. My card got compromised, but the cc co. fixed that. I have bought stuff from Shnoop a couple of times since then, and have had no further cc problems.

    NOLA restaurants

I'm sorry that I didn't see this thread until now, when you are back. For future (and others') visits, MHO is that the best restaurant in NOLA is the Pelican Club in the Quarter. It's on Exchange Alley, a small street that runs between and parallel to Royal and Chartres around the corner from...

    Ruger LC9

If you're interested in the LC9, I believe that the Kel-Tec PF9 is quite similar but gets better reviews. IIRC, there is a side-by-side comparsion/shoot-out somewhere on YouTube.

    Cuban vs Non Cuban

Newbies, remember that possessing Cuban cigars by US citizens is illegal, even if you are in a country where Cuban cigars are imported and perfectly legal (now there is a prime example of making intelligent and enforceable regulations :hysterica)

    Who uses a xikar

Palio and Xikar both have exemplary warranties and customer service. I have and use cutters from both, plus a bunch of Xikar lighters. You can use either brand's products with complete confidence and just choose whichever you prefer.
