• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Cigar Bar Question

Buy a couple of extra sticks the next time you are there. Take them home, and put them in a humidified container (probably separate from your regular humidor and stash, to prevent possible odor transfer, if that turns out to be the issue). Let the humidity stabilize, then smoke them at home or...

Wow factor cgars - cigars that unexpectedly hit the spot!

The original releases of the RP Edge in maduro and Sumatra wrappers, and the Fuente Rosado series. Sadly, later samples just didn't live up to the first shipments. Still good, but not what they were at first. :crying:

    palio or xikar mtx

Good decision. I have both, but I use the MTX as a backup, since it's always on my keychain. The Palio is a bit better IMO.

    I won!

I carry one on my keychain so I'm never without a good cutter.

    Cheapest Minijet

I have the X-tend, now called the Maxi-Jet. Yes, if you can get it at a discount, it's definitely worth the price. Best lighter I have ever owned. Lights the first time, every time.

    A Failsafe Lighter?

IME, they work great, then they crap out after a couple of years. However, at their price point, who cares?

    Tupperdor problems...need help quick

Whoa, hold on. Did you say two jars of beads and some solution? If you mean the PG solution that you use with floral foam, do not put that stuff in your beads! Use only distilled water in your beads.

Mammoth Tusk Ivory Fossil Cigar Cutter by XIKAR

For 400 bucks, it had better come with a happy ending with every cut! :hearteyes

Hobby, leisure ,taste or something else.

One of my cigar buddies is a psychologist who specializes in stress management. He refers to cigar smoking as "Turn Around Time." I.e., it's time to relax and reenergize.

    Preferred cutting method?

Palio, Xikar, Xikar Multi-tool, and SAK, in that order (descending).

    anybody use one of these?

Sounds as if I'm in the distinct minority, but I almost never smoke a cigar down past about 2". Maybe once or twice a year I'll smoke a cigar where the flavor doesn't go South by then :barf: , but that's about it. JMO, YMMV.

Most of the Cigars I smoke consist of tobacco grown in this country

I don't smoke many puros. Most of my sticks these days have blends from different countries. The most frequent sources are, in no particular order, DR, Nicaragua and Honduras, with Ecuador and Mexico supplying some wrappers.

How do you take your beads?

FWIW, I use plastic humidifier devices in my desktop humidors. I remove the floral foam and replace them with beads. Sometimes, the holes in the device are large enough that the beads can fall through, in which case I cut a piece of my wife's discarded pantyhose as a screen between the beads...

    30-countTravel Case : difficult choice

Beads. Definitely. Don't know the websites to comment on, but bank fees for converting currency can be noticeable, these days.

    Purging...

What's the point of this poll? Frequency depends entirely on the particular cigar.

    Peter Weller?

    What are you listening to?

I almost always listen to my iPod or Pandora in shuffle/Quick Mix mode. I never know what's coming next.

    Edgeworth

My late father always smoked Edgeworth, a blend that is no longer made. Does anyone know of anything currently on the market that smells and smoke like the old Edgeworth? TIA.
