• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over the next few weekends BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    Lighter Problem

Have you tried using a can of compressed air to blow any accumulated crud out of the burner? It's a good idea to do that fairly regularly.

    Permission to buy?

I voted it depends. Generally, I follow a "don't ask - don't tell" policy about buying cigars, so most of the time the answer is No. However, if I am going to make a REALLY big purchase, I'll discuss it first. E.g., in the summer of 2008, when the first SCHIP bill was being pushed, I told my...

Do all Lanceros and smaller RG sticks always burn hot?

And that's why I prefer large RG cigars. :eyebrow:

    Ever think of quit smoking?

Stop the madness! Why on earth would I want to do something as crazy as stopping cigar-smoking?

I know you don't want to hear this, but go with the Stinky. You will come to love it.

Places that you have or would like to have a smoke one day?

A Monty #2 in one hand, a cafe au lait in the other, while sitting at any sidewalk cafe in Paris. I've done it, and I can't wait to do it again.

    Cigar Colors

I usually gravitate towards the dark end of the street, but I'll smoke just about any color wrapper, including candelas (which I like a few times a year for a change of pace).

    Newb question about "flavors"

To me, all cigars taste like... smoke from burning tobacco! Call me crazy. :headroll: Seriously, I rarely detect any of those distinct flavors. I get, depending on the cigar, sweetness, sourness, irritation (what I think others call pepper) and that's about it. On really rare occasions, I...

    opinions, suggestions...

Congratulations! Personally, I would not look for a rare or unusual cigar. Instead, I would ask myself, "what cigar do I light up, smoke, and say to myself, 'Damn, that is one great cigar?'" Then i would pick that one. For me, lately, that's been the now discontinued Edge Sumatra Torpedo...

I want to get a nice cutter. Help me please!

Do yourself a favor and go with the Palio. If you don't like the looks of the black one, check out the wood and carbon fiber finished versions. I have a Palio, a Xikar, and a SAK. I like the cut of the Palio best. 'Nough said?

    Notch cutters

I abandoned my quest for a good, affordable notch cutter a year or two ago and now use my Palio.
