I just let it burn out in the ashtray. Unless I'm in the car. Then I toss it. It doesn't have a filter so no biggie. Just don't throw it in leaves.

I more often than not let it burn out and then break the butt up with my boot leaving a small pile of singed leaves.

Usually I let it burn out on it's own. However, when I'm out hiking or fishing or something I do put it out in some dirt, put it in a bag, and pop it in a pocket for disposal once I get home.

I had to teach a guy who had been smoking for 20 years (and still smokes RP and Gurkhas, but that's another story) and stopping out his cigar like it was a disease. I mean, sheesh! People at my B&M were begging me to talk to the guy.

I nub pretty low, so I can relate the The Cigster's comment about "Taps." That said, the proper etiquette (in a closed environment with people) is to lean the cigar with foot-side up and opposite part of the ashtray from your neighbor.

I drop the butts in my patio chimenea and let them go out on their own.

When I have a fire, I send mixed aromas of oak and cigars wafting thru the neighborhood :stretchgr

I know it's an old thread, but I'll still reply.. Always let it go out on it's own. I've got a friend that crushes his and it makes me cringe every time. A lot of my smoking comes down to aesthetics. :dunno:
