I'd like too. However Don's shipping options really, really suck. I don't know if I'll be ordering from him again.
What don't you like about his shipping? I live close to him so if I order by noon it gets here the next day.

It isn't the time, it's the cost. He only offers priority and express. A moderately sized order is easily over $50 to ship. Same order from LO is under $20.

His shipping is painfully expensive. In general a "$23" pound ends up costing around $32+ to the West Coast if you don't buy it by the ton. Makes it a lot harder to pull the trigger.

My web store can calculate both priority and express by an API call to the USPS. But the post office doesn't offer an API to calculate first class. You can't print a first class label from my USPS account page. Meanwhile, UPS calculates sky high to anything the other side of the Mississippi. So a lot of this is driven by what you can display on your shipping page.

Actual cost also differs. UPS regularly charges more than what their API calculates. USPS often charges less. I can't figure it out.

It's not so simple as it seems.

I don't know how LO calculates.

I have had several USPS contacts over the years from reps who tell me they can reduce shipping costs. When I try to contact them back, I never have gotten a response. I went into the PO years ago and got a phone number from them which was supposed to put me in touch with a shipping specialist. Again, no response.

We all wish we could get the same rate as what Amazon appears to get.
Chinese shippers are heavily subsidized by our Post Office owing to an archaic UN protocol which we are not even signatories to.

Baffling.

The shipping costs are often 30-35% of the total order.

I don't know how LO calculates shipping either, but however they do, they aren't the only website to do it. I regularly order from websites other than Amazon, and the shipping is never that significant a percentage.

Whatever the reasons is, the facts is that shipping is way less per lb with LO. For some of us this is a serious factor in whether we pull the trigger on pounds "we'd like to try." $32+/lb is serious scratch.

Oh wow didn't realize it cost that much. Guess I'm lucky to live close to them.

Spoke to Don just now. Alerted him to the shipping grumpage. He sounds pretty discouraged about the prices too. Promises he'll make another foray at reducing the cost. One of the probs is he has to figure an algorithm that will cover international. Wish I had an answer.

I'm out of T-13 and need more, and the Rene Seco I'm trying based on the raves here. Of course the traditional Corojo viso is a staple for me and I'm out of that too.
