• BOTL UPCOMING MAINTENANCE

Hi Everyone, as mentioned in my introduction post, BOTL needs quite a bit of updating, patching and whatever else I might come across. Over time BOTL may be unreachable on occasion as I do migrations or updates, etc. Just be patient - we'll be back! I'll generally try to keep these maintenances until later in the evenings.

    The American Way

The word "Torcedor" sounds like something to do with bull fighting. I'm not Spanish so it doesn't fit me at all. In American history the American Craftsman style developed out of the British Arts and Crafts movement going on since the 1860s. So I'd be inclined to use the term "cigar crafter"...

    Adventures in home rolling

Question I have for the Zen master.... is snoring ok during this meditation? My meditation is very similar to sleep time.

    Mojo

Just a heads up... I tried the basic, simple mojo. The only change was using polyglycol instead of glycerin. Using Jorge tobacco gave it a light mist rested for a couple of days. Great smoke! I must admit, the vanilla is a nice addition. The average person wouldn't detect the vanilla. It's very...

New rolling room... now open! (finally)

Been moving in a new home and haven't rolled a cigar in well over a month. Moving is difficult. However I thought I'd share my new space that just got painted and carpet. A whole new world of music... It's been six years since I've heard my stereo. When I finally hooked up the stereo last week...

    Blend testing

In fairness to both LO and WLT, it's impossible to be perfectly consistent with a natural product like tobacco leaves. Year to year it would vary depending on the weather and such. So each bale would have variations. So working with it just like you're doing is the right approach.

Nice work! Many fear the ligero leaf but there's lot's of rich flavor to be had.

    Ferm-Fabulous!

Thanks for the info. I went to glass also. Holds moisture in and there's no need to try to maintain humidity in the entire box. I can't wait to hear what the tobacco now tastes like. As they say, the proof is in the pudding.

Have you smoked any of the oily fermented leaf yet?

    Ferm-Fabulous!

Do you put the tobacco in a bag or a container and then put it in the kiln? How much do you wet the leaf? It looks damp? What brand of rum?

    How to Make Cigars

Small caps are a sore spot with me. I can't count how many times those little caps have fallen off or end up hanging off the end of the cigar or hanging off my lip. I'm a firm believer that form follows function. It's the function of the cap to hold the cigar together and keep from unraveling...

    Homemade Rolling Table

I really like this idea of the screw jack built into the desk. To reduce the flexing of the top board you could add a strip of 3/4" plywood (or oak or poplar) on both the front and the back side as shown. Cut them as deep as possible maybe 1 1/2" to 2 ". It could be attached with screws (and...

Good stuff Marc. This caught my eye in the description... "The Flavors by The House of Lucky Cigar line is made up of Dominican fillers grown from Cuban-seed, draped in an Indonesian wrapper. The enticing flavors make this flavored smoke a great change of pace. The taste is smooth, mild and...
