    Fatherly advice

I don't have any kids yet but I cannot wait to! I love kids. I can't wait to teach my children all the valuable life lessons that my father taught me. My Dad is a great man, and is an amazing, caring, and strong example of what a man/father should be. I hope to be half the dad he is! I wish you...

    Cigars and Wine

I drink red wines while smoking fairly often, not necessarily because they pair good, but because I don't like white wines. I usually stick to petite sirah, chianti, Shiraz, and occasionally pinot noir and merlot. Not a big fan of cabernet sauvignon though.

    Hygrometer calibration problem

Good question, I'm not sure because I've never used one of those calibration kits before but i ordered one a few days ago and should get it soon. If I have any problems I will refer back to this thread. Hopefully someone that has more experience with those kits has an answer. Good luck!

Pipe cleaning pictorial - for the pipe n00bs.

Great tutorial, thank you. I just bought my first pipe and samples of tobacco a few days ago and am slowly learning the ins-and-outs of pipe smoking. I was not aware that there were different types of pipe cleaners, I think the ones I bought were just straight ones.

Surprised my wife on her Bday with tickets to the MNF game

I decided last minute to surprise my wife with tickets to the SD v HOU MNF game tonight in San Diego. It's her Bday today also, so that made it extra special. Now I need to decided what to smoke while tailgating??? I just hope I'll be able to remember most of the game, I've been known to go...

Can Someone Please Explain "Cigar Complexity" to me?

I wouldn't necessarily say a one dimensional, single-flavor cigar is of "lesser quality". There are plenty of very good cigars that have very little or no flavor shifts, it just depends on what you like. A cigar is only as high quality as you can distinguish.

Can Someone Please Explain "Cigar Complexity" to me?

A lot of it also depends on how experienced you are at smoking, or how developed your palate is. I have been smoking cigars for a number of years but just recently really started trying to focus on the flavors, and how those flavors change. Just like other things where flavors play an important...

    So Cal Smoker

Greeting from the Inland Empire, I would also like to get my hands on some CC's (I've never had one), but I think there is a rule about explicitly asking where and how to get them, seeing how it's against federal law and all to posses them.

    Feel of the Cigar

I have the same problem. I had a Greycliff yesterday that was very soft and spongy, didn't really feel like it was loosely rolled just very soft if that makes sense. Then there are some Perdomos that I got at the same time and put in my wineador (which is at a rock steady 65%) at the same time...
