    Yard Sale Pick-up

I picked up the exact same humidor at a yard sale a couple years ago. Paid $70 for it then, but it was brand new/never used. Sealed the lid with painter's tape. I keep two 320 gram Bovedas at 69%, and it consistently maintains about 65% humidity.

    Funny things kids say....

We were discussing what to do for the day. My daughter was 10, son was 7. Daughter was fixated on a certain activity (I don't even remember what it was). She was adamant on this activity, despite what the rest of us wanted to do. She finally suggested we vote on it. I informed her the...

    Converting attic into cigar lounge

Trick is to leave an air gap between the fiberglass and the roof. They actually make a Styrofoam spacer just for this purpose. If he does it right shouldn't be a problem.

    Converting attic into cigar lounge

I use a Holmes I picked up at WalMart, and a larger Hunter from Home Depot. Keep the filters clean. It does have two decent sized windows. Wife and I both smoke cigarettes as well. Like I said before, you can detect the odor of smoke in this room, but there is no smell in the rest of the...

    Converting attic into cigar lounge

I do, actually. My attic is finished into two rooms. I use the one at the front of the house, partially finished (insulated, some drywall but it's a work in progress). My son uses the other (larger of the two) room for his bedroom. I use two air filter machines, and a window fan when the...

Military & First Responer Discounts - Holts

Looks like the IDme discount. Have used this at Thompson and JR. Thompson would not stack the discounts but JR did. In addition, there are other sites that accept the discount, including UnderArmor. In addition to military and first responder, they also have a program for teachers. Don't...

    When do you smoke cigars?

This is how I end every day. Little whiskey, and a nice cigar. Late evening. I am fortunate enough to have a place in the house where can smoke.

Why are all the big cigar shops in Pennsylvania?

Yep, Pa has no taxes on cigars. You pay the 6% sales tax, but nothing else. We do tax cigarettes, and just recently started taxing loose tobacco and snuff. But cigars escaped that tax increase. Don't buy gas in PA though. We have the highest gasoline tax in the country.

Suggestions for Torches with Punch Cutter

I use a vector similar to this one. It's the one I take when I go out to smoke. 3 years old and still going strong. http://www.lightersdirect.com/Urbano.1778/Urbano+High+Polish+Chrome.14689.html?osCsid=9fa52ccf6160f096eeba7227b24ee9a9

Never realized the cost of the Box?

Thanks Rob, I appreciate the explanation. Rather than inane, asinine posts that contribute nothing to the discussion, you gave me the answer I was looking for.

Never realized the cost of the Box?

Just curious, what s the ratio of manufacturers who offer both bundles and boxes, as opposed to those who offer either/or, not counting factory seconds? What's the difference in price between boxes and bundles for those brands who offer both? Just curious, most of what I buy doesn't offer the...

Never realized the cost of the Box?

Puro already discounts his cigars, and by this logic, whether you buy by the stick, or by the box, you pay the same price, so the cost of the box isn't really a factor. A lot of the on-line retailers do the same, just don't discount for the bulk buy. I get what you're saying, but I honestly...

Never realized the cost of the Box?

I get the MAP, a lot of metal detector dealers use this as the advertised price, then state "call me for a better deal". I made the above statement based on the advertised on-line prices, but I also understand the discounts. The B&M i deal with will discount boxes 20-30% depending on brand...

Never realized the cost of the Box?

If you do the math, you don't really save per stick buying singles, five packs, or boxes. On Small Batch the Padron 2000 in a five pack at $26.00 is $5.20 per stick. The box of 26, at $135.20, works out to ....$5.20 per stick. The flying pig is seventy cents cheaper per stick buying the box...

    Alec Bradley It's a Girl

It is a "mixed filler" cigar, in that it contains both Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos. I can't say for certain, but believe it is a "long filler" leaf, rather than a short filler. A buddy of mine passed out the boy cigars when his son was born. Enjoyed it, but I am a fan of some of the AB...

    Cigar related tattoos?

I have one, got it about 10 years ago when my mid-life crisis started. I only got into cigars about three years ago, so I had no idea at the time. I opted for a scorpion I found on line (born in November ). Last year during the Stanley Cup playoffs I was smoking Camacho Equators during the...

How to attend a cigar tasting?

Glad you enjoyed the event. Attend as many of these as you can. It beats randomly picking a place and hoping for the best. It gives you a chance to smoke with other, like-minded people, try something new, and ask questions from knowledgeable smokers (rather than some anonymous Internet...

    Question about the AF Hemingway

I don't think there 11 options within a 50 mile radius of me, so you're lucky you have choices. For most of us (there appear to be a few exceptoins) this will be an ongoing learning experience. Enjoy the CLE event. Talk to the rep, they're usually pretty knowledgeable about their products and...
