Could also be some type of mildew/mold growth in the bottle over a long period of time. Might want to wash out the spray bottle and once in a while let the spray bottle air dry completely.

That is strange, I've had the perfumey smell on my beads but my distilled water was just fine.

My beads did the same thing. Exhibited a fruity, rose like bouqet. No one can explain why this is happening including the manufacturers. I PROMPTLY removed them from my humi so as not to contaminate the cigars since the odor is quite strong. Try this and see if it helps.....take the beads...
